After a few days in the Tuscan countryside we headed to the Amalfi coast for a day. The drive along the coast was spectacularly beautiful but also quite perilous and unique. In our big van, even on the much-less-busy winter road we were stopping constantly to let big trucks pass or try to make a turn safely. We couldn't imagine how it would be in the summertime at high season. We loved picnicking on an empty patch of rocky beach with the incredible cliffs around us. We had planed to drive up the coast for the next hour or two to Positano but the road was closed. It was quite disappointing, but we're happy we got a glimpse of this iconic coast.
